One of the first songs written, in 1979 or 1978, this is an instrumental track so-named because the original version was done using a guitar with the lower E string tuned down to a B.

Written in 1979.

Lyrics
Tested in darkness I pick up the scent
 Heat-sensor smile reveals your intent
I'll say it fast and I won't stay long
You catch my drift but the currents too strong
Immediate shore received the poison fish
Surrounded by sand quietly eat your dish
Trouble comes from reaching for passing cars
 Headlights mistaken for shooting stars
Spoiled new carpet serves as document
 Invested scalp is ever permanent
Stomach tied in knows you emit a squeal

Most of this tape was a set of “ambient” (for lack of a better word) pieces done by James Britt.

Some of them contain material taken from what was likely an LP of African drumming; there's no record of what that might have been.

A cheap but bad-ass sampling keyboard released in 1985.

It had a few cheesy presets that were fun to play with, but the coolest part is the sampler. It was easy to grab a sound then play it back. The pitch changed with the different notes, and you had the option to loop the sound when a key was held.

There were only about twelve formal Chinese Forehead songs.

Most were performed at one or another gig, some never made to the stage and were only performed in rehearsals.

However, there were a great many experiments and jams that were recorded, one-off things that might have served the basis for more formal material.

Written in 1979.

The song was the first use of a vibrating dildo use on the guitar to create an low-tech “e-bow” sound.

Lyrics
 Too light, too dark, confusing
 Can't seem to get organized
 Tracing footsteps through the jungle
 Don't care much for surprise
My heart beats like a drum now
 Up-tempo rhythm for my feet
 Air ripples signify the climate
The noise cuts through the heat

The song was written in 1979.

Like many Chinese Forehead songs the first version was a crude recording done by bouncing multiple guitar takes between portable cassette players.

There were no vocals on that version; there was ad-hoc guitar line that was then adapted to become the vocal line.

Chinese Forehead made use of assorted low-tech gear for a variety of effects. In addition to the use of a vibrator, a hacked open-reel tape recorder was used to run tape loops.

The device was pulled from some street-side trash one day. You can kinda-sorta see a picture of it in one of the

A vibrating dildo was used for the song Human Sacrifice to get a poor-man's E-bow effect.

The original device we used was made of a perfect plastic that allowed it to bounce well off of the guitar strings while maintaining a full sound.

Sadly, it seems to have gotten left on stage after a gig and someone stole it.
